Erie Insurance now offers paperless delivery for billing documents, policy declarations, and auto ID cards. Here's what's eligible, how to enroll, and what stays on paper.

How to Go Paperless with Erie Insurance
Erie Insurance now offers paperless delivery — and if you've been looking for a way to cut down on the paper piling up in your kitchen drawer, this is worth a few minutes of your time.
Here's what's available, how it works, and a couple things to know before you enroll.
What Documents Can Go Paperless?
Not everything is eligible yet, but the most common documents are. Erie currently supports paperless delivery for:
Billing documents Invoices and withdrawal notices for most personal lines policies. Workers' Comp and Commercial Auto billing is also available for customers enrolled in EFT
Policy declarations and forms Personal auto, home, and several other personal lines policies can deliver declarations and policy forms electronically.
Auto ID cards Available in all states Erie writes in — except New York, where electronic ID cards aren't permitted.
How Does Erie Paperless Delivery Work?
The process is straightforward. When a document is ready, Erie sends an email notification to the address on your online account. You click the link, log in, and access the document directly through erieinsurance.com or the Erie mobile app.
Your coverage doesn't change. Nothing about your policy changes. It's just a different delivery method.
A few things worth knowing before you enroll:
You need an Erie online account. If you don't have one, you can create one at erieinsurance.com. It's free and takes a few minutes.
Keep your email address current. If Erie sends a notification and the email bounces, they'll automatically unenroll you from paperless and revert to paper mail. You'll receive a letter with instructions to re-enroll once you update your email.
Two named insureds on one policy? Whichever account holder enrolls first receives the electronic notifications.
Installment service charges still apply. Going paperless doesn't affect your billing plan or any applicable installment fees.
You can unenroll anytime. Manage your preferences through your online account or the Erie mobile app whenever you want.
What Still Gets Mailed?
A few document types aren't eligible for paperless delivery yet:
Life, Annuity, and Disability Income policies
Policies billed through escrow or mortgage (mortgagee billing)
Cancellation and reinstatement notices
Commercial Lines policy documents and Commercial Auto ID cards
If any of your policies fall into these categories, those specific documents will continue to arrive by mail even if you enroll in paperless for everything else.
How to Enroll
Log into your Erie online account at erieinsurance.com and navigate to your account settings. Look for the paperless delivery preferences section and select which documents you'd like to receive electronically. You'll get a confirmation email once you're enrolled.
You can also manage everything through the Erie mobile app if that's more convenient.
